If Garrett Graff is right, we need a national discussion on who will monitor the upcoming 2026 election for freedom and fairness. The Carter Center has traditionally performed this role in other autocracies. How do we find an equivalent organization in a democracy that will perform the same role in the U.S.?

Thanks so much for the links to organizations. We need all hands on deck for sure. There is a "We are America March" upcoming from Philly to DC originally organized by the 50501 chapter in Philly.(I think) I am walking part of the stretch from Wilmington DE to Newark DE.

People showing up and banding together for 14 consecutive days has to count for something, right?

As to the health of Trump being treated differently, I think it comes down to the way the media has been deferential to him from the jump. There are definitely varying standards being applied to different participants. I also think much of it has to do with Democrats still thinking that "politics" is still being played the same way. I think it has been the issue since Trump entered the chat.

He is a person who NEVER played by the rules. He is the kid that took home the ball when he started losing, that flipped over the game board when he wasn't winning, who refused to be constrained by rules. If in the last 10 years the media hasn't learned that, I imagine they never will.
