I have to be careful with my suggestions, because my more modern musical tastes can be...eclectic. So I'll go with the classics. The two-album Gladys Knight & The Pips Anthology. Elton John's "Don't Shoot Me, I'm Only The Piano Player (the last piano-driven album before he became a rock star) and Paul McCartney/Wings "Band On The Run."
Here is one reason I don’t trust the media: I believe that journalists are to report only what happened without weighting the report with value laden words, like “shocking” or “bombshell.” it is up to the reader, not the journalist to decide what value to assign to the event. Journalist are also not here to predict what will happen. They can report the predictions made by ofthers, but they should stay in their own lane.
i agree, and i'll just add that astral weeks is my longtime choice of if i only had 1 record on a desert island and of course kind of blue is the best-selling jazz album of all time.
I'm a huge, longtime fan -- so excited for this newsletter. I'll ante up by saying I've gone all in on Patty Griffin this year. "Useless Desires" and "When It Don't Come Easy" are gamechangers.
Margaret, B on B is my favorite, but other people might assert that another album is his best - e.g., Blood on the Tracks or Time Out of Mind (both of which I like a lot). From when I first heard his words in 1963 or '64 Dylan has often spoken for me and often to me.
Best of Bread 🤔

Good ideas. Thank you. Hadn’t considered that anthology.
“This is Judy Bright” DOT records 1969
You scored!
Linda Ronstadt for Certain. Any of hers.
Use her album notes for her collaborators...
All before the god-awful Auto-tune ruined voices.
What a voice!
There is a very simple thing the media can do to help restore trust in it: Act trustworthy, especially stop lying.
Would this be the same Snowden that was accused of being a "Russian asset" by the same media you now want people to trust?

Van morrison: Astral weeks
The beatles: rubber soul
Miles davis: kind of blue
Great suggestions. I own none of those at the moment. I think Rubber Soul and Revolver are the best Beatles

I notice you've taken to locking comments on all your further posts. Didn't like being called out on your BS, I see.
Can we get it back? Not if we ignore this: https://nypost.com/2023/07/06/media-silence-on-gal-lufts-biden-revelations-speaks-volumes/

Jon, thank you, and for your kind words when you subscribed. Means a lot. I will check out the Patty Griffin; good thoughts there!
Thanks for this piece, Margaret; insightful, thoughtful & wise, as usual. I recommend adding Blond on Blond, by Bob Dylan, to your new collection.
Thanks, Rick. I agree on the Dylan. Maybe his best?

I agree. I like Desire a lot, too.
